Johnny and his wife, Pam, have two children, Kristin and Ryan. Kristin lives in Amarillo, Texas with her husband Seth, and Ryan is now in Dallas, having recently graduated law school.
Johnny has served four churches as senior pastor in Texas and Missouri. Each of these churches brought their own measure of blessing and challenge. Yet, each conjures its own set of wonderful remembrances and sweet friendships.
Educationally, he has a bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas, and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia.
A few years ago, however, health issues entered Johnny’s life to the degree that full-time preaching became an impossibility Enter North Monroe, where he serves as the Pastoral Care Pastor. Caring for God’s people through counsel and comfort, where God’s truth meets life, has always been a passion for Johnny. He also teaches Bible Studies on Wednesday nights, which he enjoys tremendously. Johnny likewise assists the Senior Adult Committee of the church achieve it’s purposes and goals.
Johnny's story, however, would not be complete without a reference to January of 1997. This was the event where his home burned to the ground. An investigation showed faulty wiring. They literally lost everything, getting out only with the clothes on their backs. This story is too long for great detail, but what God did in Johnny’s life during those days is too glorious to omit. Suffice it to say that God brought an inner healing to his life in those days that gave meaning to the Spirit life and anchored intercessory prayer in his heart. Johnny is truly thankful that today he is feeling better physically. He is grateful for this body and the opportunity to serve the Lord.
